Our accreditation
TEFL Global courses are accredited by ACTDEC (the Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses) through Global English, a UK online TESOL school based in Exeter. Global English (est. 1997) trains English teachers and has held ACTDEC accreditation since 2004.
TEFL Global is a trading name of Edventure Abroad Limited. It launched in 2026 and is built on Global English (est. 1997) as a partner, using Global English's course content. Our certificates are issued by Global English under its ACTDEC accreditation.
ACTDEC accreditation covers every TEFL Global course except the 10-hour Enter English introductory course. The main ones are:
- Level 3, 120 Hour TEFL/TESOL Course (ACTDEC Level 3)
- Level 4, 150 Hour Advanced TEFL/TESOL Course (ACTDEC Level 4)
- Level 5, 250 Hour TEFL/TESOL Professional Course (ACTDEC Level 5)
About ACTDEC
ACTDEC sets standards for online and distance TESOL training. It audits course providers and their courses against its published Code of Practice and its Levels framework (Levels 2 to 5).
ACTDEC is audited by IATEFL, the British Council and, from time to time, independent reviewers. ACTDEC is a member of IATEFL.
Admin and certificates for ACTDEC are handled by Global English.
What this means for you
- Your course has been reviewed against a published standard. ACTDEC audits courses against its Code of Practice and Levels framework.
- A real tutor marks your work. Assignments are marked by a tutor, not just auto-graded, and you can contact your tutor directly for help.
- Your certificate is moderated by ACTDEC. On completion, you receive a Global English TESOL PDF certificate, included in your course fee. A printed and embossed copy posted to you, and an ACTDEC PDF certificate for your level, are optional extras for an extra fee.
- Employers can check it. Every recent certificate carries a unique verification code that anyone can check online (see below).
- Requirements still vary. Accreditation does not guarantee a job or a visa. Country and employer requirements differ, so always check what the country you plan to teach in asks for.
What our courses are not
TEFL Global courses are not Ofqual-regulated qualifications and are not on the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The "Level 3", "Level 4" and "Level 5" labels are ACTDEC levels, not RQF levels. Our courses are also not equivalent to CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL, which are different, classroom-based qualifications. If a job advert asks specifically for CELTA or Trinity, a TEFL Global certificate will not meet that requirement.
The Level 5 course does not include assessed teaching practice. Teaching practice is a separate add-on course.
What ACTDEC's auditor said
"Global English TESOL course material is thorough, authoritative, well organised and presented in a totally student-oriented manner... GE maintains a very high standard of training provision, which more than meets the standards demanded by its accreditation body."
Tony Goodwin - Auditor, ACTDEC Accreditation Audit
How to check our accreditation
- Check a certificate. Enter the verification code printed on the certificate (format GE-XXXXX-XXXXX) at global-english.com/verify/. A valid code shows the holder, course, level, hours and issue date.
- Check the ACTDEC members list. ACTDEC publishes its accredited members at actdec.org.uk/accredited-members/. Global English TESOL is listed there, with the note that Christian TEFL and TEFL Global sit under its accreditation.
- Check the provider register. TEFL Global is run by Edventure Abroad Limited, which is on the UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP) under UKPRN 10056745. Search for that number at ukrlp.co.uk. UKRLP registration is not accreditation: our accreditation comes from ACTDEC, through Global English.
- Ask us. Email info@tefl.global and we will confirm any certificate directly.
